New Year Resolutions 2014

For 2014, I came up with three simple and attainable New Years resolutions.

1.  I pledged here to never text and drive.  I'm certainly guilty of making hands-free phone calls, but it is terrifying to see how many people are driving with their heads down, looking at their phones.  I hate for my little Luke to be in the car with me with so many inattentive drivers.  I have precious cargo, as do so many other people.  In 2014, I will not text and drive, and I urge you to make the same pledge for the new year.

 2.  Read at least one book to Luke each day.  I've always attempted to read a book per day to Luke but it hasn't become part of our routine.  Reading is so important and especially at his age when he is soaking in every little thing around him.  In 2014, we're going to read more!

3.  Take care of our health.  I really want to watch my sugar intake.  Since I had Gestational Diabetes, I'm more likely to develop diabetes later in life, and more likely to have it again with any subsequent pregnancies.  The more I know about sugar, the more I think that we should cut down on it!  In 2014, we're going to eat less sugar!

What are your New Year's resolutions?  If you posted about them, please leave a link in the comments so I can check it out!

Don't forget to enter the giveaway that ends January 6th!

  1. Those are good goals. I have seen people texting on the Autobahn and it's a little scary given the speeds people drive on there. Luke might be a little young for them, but the toddlers at the daycare I worked at loved the Pete the Cat books. http://www.harpercollinschildrens.com/feature/petethecat/

This year I decided not to do yearly goals. Instead I'll be working on the 101 in 1001 I started in December. It's 101 goals to be completed in 1001 days, although I still need to add about a dozen more to it. http://embracingadventure.com/101-in-1001/

  2. Love your simple goals! I had G.D. too with my second pregnancy so I have also been trying to reduce and eliminate sugar from my diet, which is part of the reason why I'm doing a Whole 30 challenge this month. I just need to quite cold turkey! Thanks for linking up with me on my goals link up. Happy New Year! :)

  3. Good on you for pledging not to text and drive. It makes me so angry when I see people being inattentive while driving. So many senseless deaths here in New Zealand every year because of inattentive or drunk driving.

I think it's beautiful that you're planning on reading to Luke more often. It's sad that a lot of kids rarely read now. I'm so grateful to my mother for taking the time to read to me every night when I was a child. It's fostered a love of literature in me, and it's made my grammar better compared to my schoolmates.

Good luck with your goals for the year Lindsay!
